Clevergy raises a 1,5M€ round
At Clevergy, we are very pleased to announce that we have closed a 1,5M€ round led by Zubi, founded and chaired by Iker Marcaide. Other investors are joining, such as Earth, a new climate-tech fund founded by Maex Ament and Philip Stehlik, Finaves, Fredrik Wikstrom, and other business angels in the sector. It also includes as an Advisor Adrian Tuck, the Founder of Uplight, a leading American energy management software company.
In 2022 we closed our first pre-seed round led by Flash Ventures of 500.000€ with the aim of developing a product that would allow utilities and installers to centralise home energy management. On this occasion and with this operation, our goal is to invest in technology to strengthen the product: increasing the number of compatible smart devices, incorporating advanced AI-based energy-saving models, and enabling the management of energy communities.
Iker Marcaide “The decision to invest in Clevergy responds to the company's strategic interests. This investment reflects our commitment to innovation and sustainability, and is fully aligned with the interests and developments of our current initiatives. Clevergy is at the forefront of the energy transition in the home, an area we consider fundamental to the future. We are delighted to support and be part of this significant change in the industry” .
According to Beltrán Aznar, our CEO and co-founder of Clevergy, “Our thesis is that homes will play a crucial role in the energy transition, moving from mere consumers to active parts of the power grid, generating their own energy and balancing demand to allow the energy system to remain robust and not collapse; each home will be a small virtual power plant. Right now, the best positioned to bring this energy management to citizens are the utilities and renewable energy companies. We help these companies with our technology, enabling them to offer the best energy experience to their customers, in App or Web format. With this, companies can build customer loyalty, centralise all their operations, and cross-sell products and services they did not have before”
The home energy management software trusted by leading utilities and installers
The lack of effective connection between homes and the power grid, as well as between utilities and equipment manufacturers (batteries, electric cars, aerothermal systems, solar, etc.), prevents the energy efficiency optimisation that a smart, connected home should provide. Today, the user gets a limited experience by having a different App for each of their devices. In turn, the energy company is limited: on the one hand it cannot centralise and optimise its operations in a single portal, and on the other it cannot offer a service that encompasses all energy management under its own brand for the customer, losing the opportunity to build loyalty and retain them. Faced with this lack of coordination, Clevergy positions itself as a pioneer in the future of the energy transition. It makes it possible to connect homes with utilities' services and with smart devices on a single platform.
The company always keeps its brand. It is crucial for companies that the consumer identifies energy management with their own brand. To this end, we offer different white-label integration methods adapted to the needs of each company: whether by incorporating modules to enrich existing applications, or by creating applications from scratch, always maintaining the company's personality.
Many utilities and renewable energy companies already trust our technology to improve their customers' energy efficiency, among them Naturgy, Solar Team (Konery), Doctor Energy and Lidera Energía. It now also offers a solution for these companies in the form of a Web Portal, allowing them to centralise and optimise their operations, while also detecting new product and service opportunities for their customers.
